WHO MAY APPLY: Applicants must maintain a permanent and exclusive residence within or contiguous (within 35 miles of Apostle Islands National Lakeshore boundaries). The applicant must document that their place of residence for the last 2 years lies within the 35-mile limitation, and the applicant must be dependent for livelihood primarily upon employment available within the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore.
This is a full time temporary position, not-to-exceed 1039 hours, located at Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, Bayfield, Wisconsin. The primary responsibility of this position includes Commercial Use Authorization processing, tracking, backup radio dispatch, telephone and guest reception.
_AREA INFORMATION:_
Apostle Islands National Lakeshore is located in rural Northern Wisconsin approximately 75 miles east of Duluth, Minnesota. School grades K-12 are located in Bayfield, Washburn (12 miles) and Ashland (26 miles). A hospital and other medical facilities are available in the immediate area. Rental housing is scarce. Moderate priced homes are available in Washburn and Ashland. Temperatures range from mid 80''s in the summer to sub-zero in the winter. Summer and winter recreation activities are numerous.

Incumbent is responsible for monitoring park radio traffic, answering radio calls, receiving and relaying weather warnings and emergency transmissions, transmitting routine messages and information, weather reports, weather warnings, and fire weather information. Receiving, recording, and establishing case incident reports through IMARS (Incident Management Analysis and Reporting System) online system. Processing new and renewal CUA applications. Processing CUA complaints. Maintaining inventory of office supplies. Processing incoming and outgoing mail.

Contiguous to the Area: Applicants must reside within 35 miles of Apostle Islands National Lakeshore boundaries, for the last 2 years (based on entry on duty date, July 2014). Applicant''s livelihood must be primarily dependent on employment within Apostle Islands National Lakeshore boundaries.
In order to qualify for this position, you must possess one of the following:
FOR THE GS-05
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 level in the federal service. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include relaying information on a radio or telephone system; working as a switchboard operator; dispatching information on a fire or at a construction site; working as a security guard or law enforcement officer; producing criminal reports through a computer system; or coordinating emergency response efforts.
OR
Have successfully completed four years of education above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. The education must have been attained in an accredited college or university. One year of full time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. PLEASE NOTE: you must submit a copy of your transcripts when qualifying based on this option. Failure to include this documentation will make you ineligible for this position.
OR
A combination of specialized experience as described above and education as described above which total at least one year. For example, 6 months of specialized experience (50% of the specialized experience) and three years of education above high school (50% of the education) would qualify an applicant for this position. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e. beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. NOTE: You must include your college transcripts to qualify under this option. Failure to include this documentation will make you ineligible for this position.
Credit for experience is given on a 40-hour workweek. Part-time experience is credited on a part-time ratio, i.e., working 20 hours per week for two months equals one month of experience. No additional credit is given for overtime.

Physical Requirements: The ability to speak distinctly and to have normal or correctable to normal hearing are essential to both radio and telephone communications.
Work Environment: Work is performed primarily indoors in an office atmosphere. At times the incumbent will be managing radio and telephone traffic in stressful situations involving search and rescue or recovery operations. Position requires computer use.
Drug Tested Position: This is a drug tested position. All applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Incumbents will also be subjected to random drug testing.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
